Behind The Savoy Bar

Welcome to… the Savoyyy Bar!! You may be able to hear that in your head if you follow us on Instagram. I’m Leah, the Bar manager for The Savoy Denver. I’ve been in this position since Spring of this year and I am excited to give you a little glimpse into what we do here.

If you’ve been to The Savoy, chances are you have seen and admired our beautiful bar which was designed specifically to give our guests the feeling of “a warm hug”. My goal is to further that feeling with the cocktails and elixirs we offer.

Prior to working at The Savoy, I’ve held many jobs in the arts and hospitality industry. After graduating with a degree in theater, my first job out of college was at an upscale hotel and restaurant in Omaha, Nebraska. While there I did everything from work at the breakfast bar, bartend events, restock mini fridges, worked front desk, valet cars, and hosted during evening restaurant hours. The head chef there gave me a book to read one day, “Setting the Table” by Danny Meyer. I was amazed at how this book took one of my favorite elements of theater- helping people feel seen and cared for- and implemented it into the food and beverage industry.

While things can get stressful when you have a full line of people all waiting to order a delicious drink before seeing a show in a short amount of time, I always try to come back to “[hospitality] business, like life, is all about how you make people feel.”

We are about to change over into a fall and spooky themed cocktail menu for the fall, and then a more holiday and winter themed menu around November. Aside from deliciously crafted cocktails, we also have a handful of non-alcoholic drinks for everyone to enjoy. And if you don’t see something on the menu you like? Let us know and chances are we can figure out making you something different but still just as yummy. I’m most excited about our October special “Midnight Margarita” - Blanco tequila, lavender, blood orange, lime, and a little bit of magic sparkle dust.

In the future I’d like to have a vanilla themed drink on our regular menu to honor the Rodelle Vanilla factory that used to occupy this space, so keep an eye out for that. I hope you join us for a drink sometime, or feel free to reach out to me if you have any ideas for a drink focused event that could happen in our bar and we can work together!
