MAS Presents welcomes acclaimed Canarian musician Germán López, one of the foremost players of the timple—a distinctive five-string instrument native to the Canary Islands—for a rare and intimate Denver performance. López’s music brings together the rich traditions of his homeland with folk, jazz, Latin, and contemporary influences, creating a sound that feels both deeply rooted and wonderfully expansive.
A Grammy-nominated artist, López has performed at Lincoln Center and SFJAZZ and collaborated with artists including Richard Bona, Paquito D’Rivera, Lila Downs, and Aymée Nuviola. His performances reveal the timple as far more than a traditional folk instrument—an expressive, virtuosic voice capable of extraordinary warmth, nuance, and emotion.
